1. Frogs live in almost all regions – from tropical to subtropical, but most species live in tropical forests.
2. There are more than 5000 descriptions of amphibian species and about 88% are frogs.
3. The term “frog” refers to aquatic or semi-aquatic creatures with smooth or damp skin, while “toads” live on the ground and have dry and warty skin.
4. Compared to other groups of amphibians, frogs do not have a tail, and their legs are more adapted for jumping than for walking.
5. Frogs range in size from 10 mm (Brachycephalus didactylus from Brazil and Eleutherodactylus Iberia from Cuba) to 300 mm (goliath from Cameroon).
